A few years ago, I heard a statistic I couldn’t unhear. It was this: “It takes about 800 years to decompose one tampon. I did the maths and I couldn’t believe how many tampons and sanitary towels I had polluted the planet with after all the many years of periods, even though there was nothing else available to me back then. I made a decision that the only way I could undo all that damage - spiritually, morally, consciously and energetically would be to scale up others not doing it. I then started wearing period pants and I loved their functionality and the fact that I didn’t need to use disposable sanitary products, but they were so unattractive. They were so unsexy, unflattering, uncomfortable and there was no way I could wear them under tight clothes or the gym. I realised there was a huge gap in the market for sexy flattering period pants that would make women feel protected but super feminine and alluring. And Annahitah was born and launched in 2024 and every style was named after a goddess. Not long after I launched Annahitah, a big study was published about the worrying levels of toxic chemicals like lead in tampons. This secured my mission even further and my desire to help the next generation of women avoid toxic, pollutant menstrual plastics forever.
