Resilience

We are entering an immersive period of unpredictable austerity and it is natural to feel fear and uncertainty. More positively, in times of struggle, us earthlings tend to uncover an inner strength we didn’t even know existed. So, allow me to give you a helping hand in discovering your innate resilience.

The average human being will endure many emotional and physical lessons and traumas throughout their years on Planet Earth. Have you ever sat down to reflect and list ALL of the tough events that you have ever been through? I did this exercise a couple of years ago and I was amazed at the catalyst of events my poor little self had been through! Just think of your life as a timeline since birth….there’s the physical hardships that you have endured such as childhood diseases, viruses, broken bones and of course, every scar has a story. Then there’s the emotional life traumas. Naturally, there’s the big stuff like heartbreak and bereavement but did you know that every tiny negative comment can leave a cellular imprint in your energy field? Can you recall a horrible comment you endured in the school playground? That may have had some kind of impact on your adult life and your decision-making processing, or your self-confidence, for example. These experiences are the fundamental lessons that can make us or break us, but ultimately enable us to build resilience.

The good news is that the negative beliefs or traumas we naturally cling to and sometimes re-live over and over again can be eradicated. NLP and brain-retraining is so good for this. As is energy work such as Reiki, inner child healing, holistic counselling or Chakra rebalancing. To seek help in some of these areas please contact me here. A really simple cleansing technique is to write the list of all your previous negative life experiences and then burn them in a fire. Energetically, this is a super powerful disconnection.

Resilience is also something you need to build up to survive the workplace. It’s a “dog eat dog world” out there and you are likely to experience some kind of knock-back related to your chosen vocation in life. Rest assured that this is how you will evolve and learn and grow. You will fail, you will flounder, you’ll possibly fall BUT you WILL get back up again, eventually. If you can master the art of resilience, next time, the resurrection after your fall will be much quicker. You will also be better equipped to deal with future events. Imagine a glow of bullet proof white light around you! Every single emotional bullet that is aimed in your direction can bounce off, completely avoiding absorption into your energy field.

Resilience is made up of five pillars:

Self Awareness

Mindfulness

Self care

Positive relationships

Purpose

1. Self Awareness

Don’t react on emotion. Be aware of the impact you can have. Make it positive. How do you think you are perceived? Always be kind and remember to check in with your ego - it’s not always about you.

2. Mindfulness

This is the key to mental well-being. Mindfulness means taking some time out for you today. This needs to be your non-negotiable daily quiet time....it might be Meditation, Journaling, sitting in the garden with a warm cuppa or a silky bubble bath. Make it a daily MUST for at least 10 minutes a day. My top tip is “Empty Brain space” time….it’s so simple to do. Just make sure you are in nature with no technology around you. Pause your mind and focus on hearing at least 4 sounds around you. Focus on hearing just these 4 sounds for 10 minutes. I promise you’ll thank me for this if you do it every day!

3. Self Care

Good Nutrition….obvs! You are what you eat. End of! Self care is also about feeding your mind the good stuff, as well as your body. When did you last read a book instead of listening to an audio or podcast? Books are immersive for the soul, without multitasking. Daily exercise is so important because the body always wants to move. It isn’t designed to be static and stagnant. Daily walking, stretching and deep breathing in nature is as acceptable and necessary as a bike ride or HIIT work out in the gym. Also, make sure you do something every day that makes your soul sing! Laughter is THE best cure for anything. Watch your favourite comedy. Do a silly dance. Sing your heart out. At least once a week, I sing so loudly in the kitchen that my neighbours must wonder what poor animal is suffering! But it keeps my soul alive!

4. Positive Relationships

Are you fostering positive relationships with those around you? This goes back to being kind. And of course, always be respectful to others, even if you cannot ascertain common ground. We are all born and nurtured differently and that’s the beauty of the human race. Always treat people as your equal. Have you recently taken a look at the people you surround yourself with? You become the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with and that is why it is so important to have positive people around you that uplift you and make you smile. You bounce off of the energy of others and that is why you may feel drained if you are surrounded by people who moan or offload their dramas. Now, it’s a great trait to be a supportive friend, but after being in the presence of this, make sure you then find someone who is having a good day and get that energy boost! In the communities and villages of the world with the longest living inhabitants, a positive daily community is often listed as being one of their most valuable life hacks. Find your tribe. Keep the vibe high.

5. Purpose

This is your WHY. It’s your purpose. Your calling. Your reason for jumping out of bed in the morning. Your reason for serving others in this lifetime. Your “Ikigai”, according to the Japanese (Ikigai is one of my all time top book recommendations). You have a purpose in the short term and you will undoubtedly have a greater purpose long term. How would you like people to remember you when you’re no longer here? What wondrous stories would your eulogy say about you? Have you discovered your true passion and vocation in life yet? It’s never too late to start that hobby you are passionate about and you can even turn it into a business! You have one shot here to fulfil your purpose in this life and help as many people as you can along the way. I truly believe our ultimate purpose as humans is to learn, teach, guide, and serve.

If you can remember these 5 pillars and practise them daily, you will master resilience to the point where any set back and any flick of rejection just glides over you without any long lasting effect. It will create a barrier of protection so that it doesn’t matter what people say or what you think they are saying.

A great tip for coping with a rejection or a hardship you experience is to stop and ask yourself this question:

“Will this affect my life in 5 years time?”

Every time I have done this, at least 90% of the time, the answer is no. So therefore, it’s not worth wasting any more time over! Remember, time is your most precious commodity. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. This isn’t a dress rehearsal.

A great visualisation for building resilience in any situation is to visualise yourself looking up at a mountain. See your desired goal right at the top of your mountain and affirm that you WILL reach the top. Endure the life journey or experience whilst honouring the lesson during the process (after all, that’s ultimately what we are here for, to learn lessons). Keep climbing and visualise yourself getting nearer that summit. You will get there, my love ❤️
